The Port Services Operative (Tug) is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient berthing and unberthing of vessels, operatinglinkspans, marshallingtrafficfor the loading and discharge of vessels across various locations both in and around the Port. The role includes freight andpassengercheck-in, checking of IMDG cargo,vessel husbandryactivitiesandforklift operations. Tooperate Tug Masters to transportunaccompaniedtrailer and freight, carrying out loading,discharge and shunting operations within the Port. Todemonstratecompany values in all interactions with customers and colleagues,ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards.

• Promote a strong safety culture – Safe Out, Safe Home.

• Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, associated site safety regulations and good industry practice.

• Be pro-active with the Company Safety Management System anddemonstratesafe working practices during all working activities.

• Promote ideas which will increase efficiency, reduce costs or time without compromising service standards and present to line manager.

• To always present a high standard of customer service, personalconductand representation of the service in line with Company values and standards.

• Communicate effectively with Managers, team leaders,colleague sand other stakeholders, to provide an effective and professional service.

• Work, as directed, by Managers, team leadersregardingother port operations as may be required.

• Support team performance by sharing knowledge and best practice at all levels.

• To moor and unmoor vesselsin accordance withsafe working practices and under the direction of vessel pilots or crew members.

• Assistin baggage handling requirements for foot passengers.

• Passenger and freight terminal operations. Operating a handheld VHF radio for communicating with colleagues or vessels.

• Driving a company vehicle for the purpose of transporting yourself and other work colleagues to a work site.

• Operate Ro Rolinkspans  as required.

• Marshall and direct traffic for loading,discharge and waiting areas.

• Carry out any other dutiesdeemedappropriate bythe management, at any other Briggs sites.

• Safe operation of all Tug Master and unaccompanied freight within the operations.

• Attend and undertake training asrequiredtocomply with Company regulations and legislative requirements.

• Experience of working in a marine/terminal operation facility

• Experience of working with quayside operations

• Experience in HGV’s or Tug Master vehicles

• Good standard of education in numeracy and literacy

• HGV class 1 licence & CPC

• City & Guilds Mooring Appreciation Certificate

• Full, clean, manual driving licence

• Competent in Microsoft Office applications

• Commitment to continuous professional development
