Are you an experienced Material Planner with a strong background in production or material planning within a manufacturing environment? Do you have strong MRP knowledge and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where effective planning, supplier relationships and continuity of supply are critical?
DENSO is a global mobility supplier developing advanced technology and components for leading vehicle manufacturers worldwide. At DENSO Marston Ltd in Shipley, West Yorkshire, we design and manufacture high-performance heat exchange units and cooling modules for OEMs across the off-highway construction, agricultural and power generation sectors.
The RoleAs a Material Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the factory is supplied with the appropriate materials to support production within a JIT manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient scheduling and expediting of materials, ensuring on-time delivery to maintain, flow and meet customer delivery requirements
Support the achievement of business objectives through effective inventory management
Monitor and report supplier OTIF performance
Work with suppliers and internal teams to improve supplier delivery performance
Create and complete corrective actions where required
Contribute to improvements in MRP functionality and processes in support of business targets
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders
Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Quality, Engineering and Management teams
Proactively progress chase materials and challenge discrepancies to minimise disruption to production
- Strong working knowledge of material and/or production planning
- Good understanding of MRP principles and planning operations
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise competing demands
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to communicate
confidently and effectively with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders at all levels - Ability to build strong supplier relationships and effectively expedite materials to support production requirements
- Resilient and proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge discrepancies and resolve day-to-day supply issues
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
- 35 years experience in material and/or production planning
- Previous experience working with MRP systems
- Experience with in an automotive manufacturing or FMCG environment would be advantageous
- Experience working within a fast-paced JIT manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience of working with suppliers to support continuity of supply and right-first-time manufacturing
