Business Development Manager - Orthopaedic Extremities

Location: London and South East England - must have good London access as a lot of time will be spent there.

Product: Range of products for upper and lower limb surgery including Distal Radius System, Wrist Fusion System, plates, cannulated screws, together with a bone graft substitute.

Who you’ll be working for:

A leading distributor of advanced orthopaedic solutions across the Middle East and international markets, this company is now launching in the UK, bringing clinically proven, cutting-edge technologies that improve patient outcomes. At the forefront of orthopaedic innovation, it partners with globally renowned manufacturers to deliver high-quality products, technical expertise, and educational support to healthcare professionals.

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping UK market entry strategies, forging meaningful partnerships, and establishing the brand as a trusted leader in orthopaedics. This is a unique opportunity to build something exceptional from the ground up, combining entrepreneurial drive with clinical impact.

What you’ll enjoy:

Joining this organisation offers a unique chance to be part of a growing company with innovative products, a clear vision for market penetration, and significant opportunities for career advancement and personal impact within a supportive, albeit sometimes challenging, startup environment. Benefits to joining include:

  • Leadership Potential
    :
Looking to recruit candidates with leadership potential and a desire to progress, ideally seeing themselves in a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) role within two to three years. This indicates a clear path for advancement within the company. There are future plans to introduce a management layer for both extremities and shoulder arthroplasty, offering opportunities for current Business Development Managers to step into these roles.
  • Startup Environment
    :
While challenging, a startup environment often provides more opportunities for individuals to make a significant impact, gain broader experience, and advance more quickly than in larger, more established companies where competition for leadership roles can be high.
  • Entrepreneurial and agile culture
    :
The company needs "go-getter" individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset who can thrive in a startup setting and make things happen. This is a culture that values initiative and drive.
  • Collaboration with Partners
    :
There is significant support from the manufacturers who are committed to doing roadshows and engagement dinners to help engage the UK market.
  • Focus on Education and Training
    :
This is a business which invests heavily in education, service, and support. There are full suites of training opportunities available, including saw bones, cadaveric training and live case observation.
  • New Market Development
    :
The role involves building a business from scratch in the UK market, which offers an exciting challenge for individuals who enjoy pioneering and establishing new opportunities rather than just maintaining existing territories.
  • Innovative Product Portfolio
    :
The company is bringing differentiated and innovative products to the UK market, with products that addresses unmet clinical needs.

What you’ll be doing:

The Extremity Business Development Manager (BDM) role is a pivotal position focused on launching and growing the company's upper and lower limb product portfolios in the London/SE territory. This is a "business development role" requiring a hunter mentality. It involves building relationships from scratch, "knocking on doors," securing appointments, and getting products into surgeons' hands. The role demands a strategic approach to identify target accounts, understand product differentiation against established competitors, and navigate the complexities of market entry and NHS access.

Stakeholders selling to:

  • Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeons
  • Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeons
  • Podiatric Surgeons
  • Procurement
  • Theatre teams

Here’s what you need:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of orthopaedic experience, having successfully sold to surgeons and supported orthopaedic cases, with theatre experience.…
