WESTERN ISLES DENTAL CENTRE DENTAL RECEPTIONIST
Band 2 £ 25,694 to £27,900 pro rata
Distant Islands Allowance £1,406 pro rata
18 hours per week
Fixed Term Post for 12 months
Join our dedicated team at the Western Isles Dental Centre as a member of the Public Dental Service and play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you’ll provide a professional and welcoming reception service, manage appointment bookings, and support the smooth running of our clinics.
What you’ll do:- Schedule and manage patient appointments using the EXACT system
- Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries with professionalism and empathy
- Process payments and maintain accurate patient records
- Support urgent dental triage and coordinate with clinical teams
- Ensure compliance with NHS confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competent with IT systems and keyboard use
- Be professional, courteous and patient focussed
- Have a calm and professional manner, being able to manage challenging situation
- Well organised with time management skills
- Previous reception or administrative experience, particularly in a health care setting, is desirable
You’ll be part of a friendly, patient‑focused team committed to improving oral health across the Western Isles.

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
