Position: Trainee Surveyor (Assets)

Trainee Surveyor

Location:

Ealing/Mobile (On‑site 4‑5 days a week, covering areas including London, Staines, Oxford and Winchester)

Salary: £35,053

Contract:

Permanent, full‑time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

As a Trainee Surveyor, you’ll get hands‑on experience carrying out surveys, safety assessments and energy checks, working alongside experienced colleagues to see how your work directly supports long‑term investment and property management strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in carrying out comprehensive stock condition surveys to assess the age, condition and remaining lifespan of key building components.
  • Support the completion of Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments, helping to identify and evaluate potential hazards in line with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the production of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in accordance with statutory and organisational standards.
  • Collect, record and maintain accurate property data to support the development of short, medium and long‑term stock investment programmes and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure survey information is captured consistently and supports effective asset management and long‑term planning.
  • Champion and demonstrate the organisation’s core values in all interactions, working collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, residents and stakeholders.
More About You
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a building, asset management or related discipline, or able to demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Technical awareness of building systems and construction types, with an understanding of asset life cycles and maintenance considerations.
  • Familiarity with, or an awareness of, the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and Decent Homes standards.
  • Awareness of property surveying techniques and methodologies, with an interest in developing practical surveying experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with residents face‑to‑face, as well as with internal colleagues.
  • Organised and methodical in approach, able to manage time effectively, meet targets and maintain attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using IT systems, mobile devices and Microsoft Office to accurately capture and manage property data.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and contribute positively when working with others.
  • Keen to learn, develop and adapt, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential.
