An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Officer post within the dedicated Mental Health Officer Team, West Lothian Council.

The focus of the post will be to fulfil statutory duties associated with the role of the Mental Health Officer in a well-established and experienced team of 11 Mental Health Officers.

The post represents an excellent development opportunity for a qualified Mental Health Officer who wishes to build on their existing skills in a professional and supportive environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Officer who can work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team with a person-centred approach.

• Conduct work relating to statutory Mental Health Officer duties under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 and the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.
• Engage with service users, paid and unpaid carers, and family members in a variety of community and hospital-based settings.

• Registration with the SSSC within six months of commencement.
• Application submitted within three months of start date.
• PVG Scheme membership or PVG Scheme update check prior to formal offer.
