This is a 12‑month Fixed Term Contract to undertake a specific project which is fundamental to ensuring a strong oversight framework supporting excellent client outcomes. Through stakeholder engagement the role holder will lead the design, implementation and improvement of our AR oversight framework ready to roll out into BAU.
Working under the Risk & Supervision Director, and alongside the GRC Lead, along with other key stakeholders including Group Executive Committee (GEC) and project teams, this role is expected to collate and catalogue existing Appointed Representative (AR) policies that are held across the business, identify any gaps, overlaps or inconsistencies.
This role will also establish the correct escalation routes for each policy, and reporting protocols as required to establish best‑in‑class governance and oversight. It will also establish the correct approval processes for any future policy changes, their documentation and communication of those changes.
The desired output at the end of this Fixed Term Contract is that any inconsistencies in policies, or gaps, are identified to enable a document that can be shared with ARs and all those with AR oversight to ensure clarity of policy and consistency of application, to help ensure fairness across the AR community, and ultimately impact great client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities of the Job- Understand and articulate the current position regarding AR policies and procedures
- Report on any inconsistencies between SJP Policy and regulatory requirements to Director Risk and Supervision and others as required
- Work closely with those in Field Risk, Group Risk, other teams with AR oversight responsibility, and project teams to understand and articulate the desired future level of oversight
- Establish communication routes across Partnership Directorate and the AR community to ensure any future changes are well understood
- Lead Policy and Protocol workshops to identify key issues and areas of conflict, and reasons for that in order to recommend solutions
- Ensure work dovetails with other frameworks and control protocols
- Ensure AR policies are clear, applicable across all cohorts (including Academy) and consequences for non‑compliance well articulated
- Establish agreed routes for ARs to seek policy clarification
- Agree escalation procedures in line with appropriate board or committee approvals
- Work with AR Policy and Proposition Support roles to ensure policy compliance measurement methods are determined for them to continue in the future
- Outline a plan for the time allowed for this project, and keep to key milestones as agreed with the Director Risk and Supervision
- Work to ensure there is a detailed framework to hand over to the GRC Lead at the end of the FTC that will run efficiently in the future
- Keep focus on positive client outcomes, and the ambitions of ARs to run compliant, efficient and profitable businesses
- Expert knowledge of risk management within Financial Services
- Strong stakeholder management with experience of influencing senior stakeholders i.e. board level
- Detailed knowledge of a Partnership/AR rep model
- Policy expertise – has been or is responsible for the creation and management of internal policies
- Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of being able to work under pressure across multiple priorities
