The RoleAs a Kiln Operative, you’ll play a vital role in producing high‑quality seafood products by operating industrial kilns to precise standards. Working at the heart of our production process, you’ll be responsible for ensuring seafood is processed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality.
Please note:
This is a permanent night shift position, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, 6pm to 6am. Flexibility and reliability are essential to meet production needs during these key operating hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate kilns according to set procedures and production schedules to ensure consistent product quality.
- Monitor kiln performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal processing conditions.
- Accurately weigh trollies before and after processing and record all batch data for traceability.
- Inspect products for quality, identifying and reporting any faults or contamination.
- Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and PPE requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
- Support wider production tasks as needed, working flexibly across shifts to meet operational targets.
- Previous experience in a production or processing environment, ideally within the food or seafood industry.
- Basic understanding of kiln operation or similar machinery, with the ability to interpret data and graphs.
- Strong attention to detail, observational skills, and the ability to spot faults or contamination.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the flexibility to respond to changing demands.
- Good teamwork skills, the ability to work independently, and a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and health & safety procedures (training/certification desirable).
