Permanent Talent Media is recruiting on behalf of a long-established and growing precision engineering company based in Livingston. Due to continued growth, our client is looking for experienced CNC millers, horizontal borers and mill/turn operators to join its skilled manufacturing team. The business produces complex, high-integrity components for demanding global industries. This opportunity would suit an experienced machinist who takes pride in quality, understands close-tolerance work and can operate CNC machinery independently with minimal supervision.

Experienced Charge hands and multi-disciplined machinists are also encouraged to apply. The role Set and operate CNC milling, horizontal boring or mill/turn machinery Manufacture complex precision components from engineering drawings Load programmes, select tooling, set offsets and make adjustments Programme CNC machinery where required and within your experience Carry out accurate in-process inspection using appropriate measuring equipment Identify and resolve machining, tooling and quality issues Work safely while maintaining excellent standards of quality and traceability Collaborate with production, engineering and quality colleagues to meet delivery targets What were looking for Previous CNC milling, horizontal boring or mill/turn experience Ability to operate CNC machinery independently with little supervision Experience producing large, complex or close-tolerance components Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings Strong knowledge of tooling, work holding, offsets and machining processes Experience using relevant inspection and measuring equipment A dependable, safety-conscious and quality-focused approach CNC programming experience is particularly desirable for the higher-paid opportunities Heidenhain experience would be welcomed Previous Chargehand, supervisory or team-support experience would be advantageous for the top-tier positions.

Pay structure Level 1 CNC Operator: £19.15 per hour Able to operate a CNC machine independently with little supervision. This is not a trainee rate. Experienced CNC Operator: £21.25 per hour Chargehand: £22.30 per hour, including the £1.05 Chargehand allowance The final rate will be based on your machinery, control-system and programming experience. Shift patterns You will work 39 hours per week on one of the following patterns:
Monday to Wednesday, 7:00 am6:00 pm, and Thursday, 7:00 am3:00 pm Tuesday to Thursday, 7:00 am6:00 pm, and Friday, 7:00 am3:00 pm Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 pm7:00 am, and Thursday, 6:00 pm3:30 am Each working day includes a 30-minute unpaid break. Flexible or part-time arrangements may also be considered where they meet the needs of the role. Additional earning potential Night-shift hours receive a 33% uplift on the basic hourly rate for up to 39 hours Authorised overtime is paid at time and a half Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts are currently paid at double time as a temporary arrangement, subject to business requirements Overtime opportunities may be available but are not guaranteed This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing precision engineering business with an extensive range of specialist machinery and opportunities to develop your technical skills.
