Security Officer

Job Overview

Mitie is looking for a part‑time security officer to work primarily on Wednesdays, covering a client site in Livingston. The role involves protecting the client’s property, people and assets in accordance with Assignment Instructions (AI’s), meeting key performance indicators, and providing a service that helps retain the contract.

Hourly rate: £13.94 per hour. Extra hours are available on this contract and others.

• Ensure all policies and legal/regulatory requirements are complied with as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law.
• Complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions.
• Review the Assignment Instructions and suggest improvements that enhance the service level.
• Maintain a front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision and a CCTV PSS SIA licence; obtain any additional courses required.
• Follow all legal obligations and safety requirements.
• Follow instructions and procedures correctly without unnecessarily challenging authority.
• Work methodically, systematically and in an orderly manner.

• Complete all required competency training.
• Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development as directed.
• Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge.
• Renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.

• Report any health and safety hazards or potential hazards immediately.
• Stay alert to threats
  
  Indiana or changes in the environment to reduce disruption or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative to involve others promptly if a situation becomes threatening.
• Maintain professional conduct in difficult situations.
• Make accurate, detailed notebook entries after any incident for incident reporting.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
• Ensure check calls are carried out as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions.
• Call emergency services and the communication centre to report all incidents.

• Previous security experience.
• SIA licence.
• Driver’s licence and own car, due to location.
