Overview
Our chain of hardware stores was founded in June 2006 by the Dowdell and Shellenberg families of Livingston, Montana. They purchased three stores in Livingston, Butte and Anaconda, MT. Matt was one of Tom's tax clients when Tom approached him to go into business together. He easily drew Matt in by telling him that he wanted to be a business owner to be "the best employer in three communities."

Matt oversees the daily business operations while Tom manages the financial side of the business. We are proud to be affiliated with Ace Hardware Corporation based in Oak Brook, IL. Ace is a nationally known, but locally owned cooperative that has been in business since 1924 and recognized as America’s premier hardware wholesaler.
After many years in business, our organization has grown in number of stores. In 2020, Matt and Tom bought The Hardware Store in Evergreen, MT and converted it to Glacier Ace Hardware. Months later, they built Columbia Falls Ace Hardware. It’s been an intensive and exciting process. We are thrilled to have expanded the company and continue to grow our work family!

Position InformationThis is a part-time position for the summer. Employment will begin in March and end in August (specific dates will be discussed with your supervisor if you are hired). Depending on which position you are hired on for, you could be asked to work both inside and outside, run a cash register, assemble products (such as grills, lawnmowers, yard ornaments, etc.),
unload delivery trucks, stock inventory, work in the greenhouse, miscellaneous cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned. Team members will also be asked to do carry-outs for customers for various products including but not limited to cement, bricks, soils, fertilizers, etc. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the store. On occasion, seasonal employment can turn into long-term employment based on the employment needs of the store at that time.
Customer Service
- Provide a positive representation of Ace Hardware.
- Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
- Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
- Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
- Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
- Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
- Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
- Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.
- Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
- Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
- Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
- Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area.
- Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
- Assist with merchandise resets through the store.
- Provide assistance to Department Specialists, i.e. price changes, special orders.
- Ensure signage is current throughout the store.
- Operate forklift with proper training.
- Communicate any Store Support Center issue to Manager for follow up.
- Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to Manager.
- Participate in store meetings.
- Be professional in appearance and actions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds.
Seasonal Employment – BonusDates of employment:
