Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Assign work to team members and manage team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and be a resource for team members.
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical aptitude of taxation and lead preparation of complex tax returns including individuals, C‑Corp, S‑Corp, partnerships, trusts, estates, etc.
  • Establish rapport and work directly with clients to resolve tax questions and issues; advise clients on a full spectrum of tax services including planning, research, and compliance.
  • Top review of returns, work papers, and issues; complete thorough review of tax work papers on a timely basis and assure audit evidence is in accordance with firm’s documentation standards.
  • Review the work of associates and provide feedback for corrective action.
  • Perform extensive tax research on complex tax issues.
  • Prepare tax projections and identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Handle IRS, state, governmental correspondence and audits.
  • Provide guidance/mentorship to staff and assist them in developing technical skills.
  • Resource to partners, principals and managers for complex tax questions.
  • Identify staffing needs and manage the interview process.
  • Train new employees on firm technology, processes, and procedures.
  • Engage in advanced and specific CPE to improve technical skills and provide resources for staff.
  • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards.
  • Continual involvement in all aspects of billing.
  • Identify tax risk management issues and propose potential solutions through research and collaboration with Engagement Partner.
  • Monitor firm tracking sheets and provide periodic reports to partners and principals; ensure all clients are in the system and have been extended/completed/e‑filed.
  • Present new ideas and improvements for ways of performing tasks to achieve firm and departmental goals.
  • Communicate with Partner on work status and client issues that arise.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g., CCH Access Tax).
  • Primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff are unable to resolve; communicate effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel.
  • Maintain the Firm’s objective of integrity and follow the Firm’s core values.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through appearance and behavior.
Qualifications
  • BS or Masters in Accounting required.
  • CPA License required.
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including 5+ years in a similar role in Public Accounting.
  • Prior experience managing engagements and clients.
  • Ability to make and support decisions regarding accounting and tax matters.
  • Sales and payroll tax experience.
  • Ability to work independently, but also in a team environment.
  • Ability to mentor, lead, train staff members and adapt to different learning styles of others.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of CCH Axcess preferred.
  • Smartsheet Experience a plus.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
