A respected, mid-sized independent insurance brokerage is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing team. This role plays a key part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization and provides opportunities to contribute to strategic financial initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in accounting-preferably within an insurance brokerage-and thrives in a structured, fast-paced professional environment.

- Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Maintain and balance the general ledger, ensuring accuracy across accounts
- Manage bank reconciliations and month-end/year-end close processes
- Support internal and external audits with required documentation and schedules
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing expense tracking
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner
- Deliver financial insights that support organizational decision-making
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; insurance brokerage or professional services industry experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
- Deep understanding of GAAP and standard accounting principles
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with the Applied Epic agency management system is preferred
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders
