Job Title: Nurse Coordinator RN

Location: 94 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039

Facility: Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center

Department: Inpatient Wound Services

Pay Range: $62.73 per hour

Status: Per Diem / Hourly

Shift: Day

Job Function
  • Assumes responsibility for the overall functioning of the clinical areas
  • Coordinates nursing care and practice as well as wound care activities in conjunction with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital
  • Evaluates appropriateness of wound consult patients
  • Coordinates care/patient education and follow-up
  • Acts as a liaison with physicians and other health care team members
  • Participates in house-wide skin/wound care programs for staff education and patient care as needed including Prevalence and Competency Days
  • Develops and participates in unit PI
  • Assumes some varied and flexible scheduling to meet patient and staff needs
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in the State of New Jersey
  • Experienced and demonstrates clinical competence in Wound Care
  • Minimum of 1 year previous wound care experience
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Wound and Ostomy certification or completion within 1 year of hire
Job-Specific Requirements
  • Acts as a liaison and coordinates continuity of care of burn and wound management patients from admission to discharge and follow-up with other members of the health care team
  • Acts as a resource person for other nursing staff to expand their skills and knowledge base related to wound treatment
  • Provides house-wide wound care education, instructs at nursing competency day and participates in specialty bed selection
  • Adheres to Infection Control practices / policies and issues related to wound care
  • Utilizes standard precautions for all patient encounters
  • Assists in development of protocols and standards related to the needs of wound/ostomy patients both and inpatient and outpatient basis
  • Coordinates data collection and tracking related to treatment of wound/ostomy patients
  • Educates new hires during orientation (equipment, supplies, products, etc.)
  • Maintains the role of patient advocate and takes all appropriate measures to ensure patient satisfaction
  • Reports patient/family complaints and problems to appropriate nursing management personnel
  • Monitors and assesses wounds, assists with complex wound care/dressings
  • Formulates and revises plan of care, makes assessments, recommendations and gives instructions on wound management specific to individual patient needs
  • Participates with other members of the health care team on a regular basis to develop an optimal education plan for each patient
  • Reviews PI measures related to wound care, assists with implementation of new processes to meet established benchmarks
  • May be required to provide coverage in the Wound and Burn Healing Center as needed
