Job Overview

The Burn Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) is the only state‑certified burn treatment facility in New Jersey and one of the largest in North America. With 12 intensive‑care beds and an 18‑bed step‑down unit for less critically injured patients, the Burn Center provides expert care for patients of all ages. We are seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to care for our patients in their time of need.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Strong critical thinking/assessment skills
  • Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or complete I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to the unit
  • Completion of all orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center
Certifications and Licenses Required
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
Scheduling Requirements
  • Full‑time, Day Shift, 7A-8P, 37.5 hours per week, 12.5‑hour shift
  • Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotations
Essential Functions
  • Provide nursing care within scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, ensuring awareness of ethical standards as defined by the ANA Code of Ethics
  • Assure safety in practice, maintain evidence‑based practice, and advance knowledge by communicating with and utilizing available resources and programs
  • Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors
  • Maintain knowledge of the patient population served
  • Supervise and direct delegation of tasks to appropriate team members, collaborating with other patient‑care providers
  • Set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement
  • Participate in patient teaching and discharge planning; participate in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities
  • Serve as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualize the care plan to address specific patient needs
