The Advanced Practice Nurse Lead coordinates nursing care and wound care activities, evaluates wound consult patients, coordinates patient education and follow-up, acts as a liaison with physicians and staff, participates in house-wide skin/wound care programs, and develops unit performance improvement plans.

• Master's degree in nursing required.
• Current license as a registered professional nurse in the State of New Jersey.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
• Certified Wound Ostomy and Continence preferred.
• Successful completion of a UHMS-Designated Introductory course in Hyperbaric Medicine within 6 months of hire.

• Two to five years relevant clinical experience.

• Manages the Outpatient Ostomy Clinic.
• Assists with administrative duties of the department including daily schedule maintenance, payroll, billing monitoring, performance evaluation, interview assistance, and training of new employees.
• Opportunities to provide faculty and education for nursing staff regarding wound care and skin management.
• Maintains knowledge of institutional strategic plan and future vision, and communicated that information to staff.
• Reviews and revises scope of service and participates in joint planning and program development with all health care team members to meet changing patient care needs.
• Coordinates and integrates services within the department and with other departments.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support services.
• Assists with marketing of the wound care team and outreach education to referring facilities.
• Participates with other members of the health care team on a regular basis to develop an optimal educational plan for each patient.
• Reviews performance improvement measures related to wound care, assists with implementation of new processes, and monitors and assesses wounds, assists with complex wound care/dressings, formulates and revises plan of care, makes assessments, recommendations, and provides instructions on wound management specific to individual patient needs.
