Lead Advanced Practice Provider - Burn Unit
Location:
Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, 94 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039
The Advanced Practice Nurse Lead coordinates nursing care and wound care activities, evaluates wound consult patients, coordinates patient education and follow-up, acts as a liaison with physicians and staff, participates in house-wide skin/wound care programs, and develops unit performance improvement plans.
Licenses and Certifications- Master's degree in nursing required.
- Current license as a registered professional nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
- Certified Wound Ostomy and Continence preferred.
- Successful completion of a UHMS-Designated Introductory course in Hyperbaric Medicine within 6 months of hire.
- Two to five years relevant clinical experience.
- Manages the Outpatient Ostomy Clinic.
- Assists with administrative duties of the department including daily schedule maintenance, payroll, billing monitoring, performance evaluation, interview assistance, and training of new employees.
- Opportunities to provide faculty and education for nursing staff regarding wound care and skin management.
- Maintains knowledge of institutional strategic plan and future vision, and communicated that information to staff.
- Reviews and revises scope of service and participates in joint planning and program development with all health care team members to meet changing patient care needs.
- Coordinates and integrates services within the department and with other departments.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support services.
- Assists with marketing of the wound care team and outreach education to referring facilities.
- Participates with other members of the health care team on a regular basis to develop an optimal educational plan for each patient.
- Reviews performance improvement measures related to wound care, assists with implementation of new processes, and monitors and assesses wounds, assists with complex wound care/dressings, formulates and revises plan of care, makes assessments, recommendations, and provides instructions on wound management specific to individual patient needs.
