Position Overview for CookWe are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to prepare delicious, nutritious meals for our residents. In this role, you will work closely with our culinary team to create meals that not only meet dietary needs but also delight the palate. The ideal candidate will have a love for cooking, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities as a Cook- Meal Preparation: Create appetizing meals that adhere to residents’ dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring they are served at the proper temperature.
- Sanitation and Safety: Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner, keeping work areas clean and reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Menu Compliance: Follow written daily menus and standard recipes while understanding how to prepare therapeutic diets.
- Collaboration: Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments to ensure seamless meal service.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, as well as assuming quality assurance duties as assigned.
- Creative and Passionate: A love for cooking and a desire to create meals that enhance the dining experience for seniors.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail, ensuring compliance with dietary guidelines and safety protocols.
- Team Player: Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Proactive: Ability to identify potential issues and suggest solutions to enhance food service efficiency.
- High School Diploma (or GED) required; culinary degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in food preparation or a related culinary role.
- Knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices; may need local, state, or county food handling/sanitation licenses.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to creating a positive dining experience for residents.
