The Employment Ready Specialist is responsible for ensuring that job seekers develop the lifelong tools that are needed to discover their skills, choose a career goal and effectively market themselves to potential employers.
Essential Job Functions- Work with Career Navigators to assess training needs of participants, including identifying the type of work the participant is best suited for, the skills that are needed for that type of work, and job search skills.
- Identify training opportunities that will assist participants in obtaining needed soft skills, hard skills, and industry knowledge that will enable them to attain their career goals.
- Enrolls participants in training programs, including but not limited to, DWI training courses, project-led skills workshops, etc.
- Work with participants to help them understand the benefits of the Borderplex certification program. Coach participants as needed to assist them with completion of the certification program.
- Address the unique needs and barriers of participants and create and maintain an environment of inclusion for all participants by making referrals to appropriate workshops, assessments and internal programs while ensuring equitable access for all individuals regardless of needs or barriers.
- Maintain accurate records, including training schedules, attendance and pre/post-test evaluations.
- Utilize Extreme Customer Service behaviors in all interactions with internal and external customers.
Job Duties

PhysicalDemands/Work Environment
Physical requirements include carrying/lifting up to 5 pounds, frequently; up to 10 pounds, regularly; and up to 25 pounds, occasionally. Visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to drive an automobile and operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment; subject to carrying, lifting, twisting and reaching to perform essential job functions. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations.

QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Three years relevant work experience. Requires working knowledge of TANF programs. Familiarity with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations required. Prefer knowledge of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Skills/Abilities:
Must possess strong data entry skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office products with the ability to use various software programs for correspondence, reports, statistical compilation, analysis and data base access. Ability to gather information, analyze, articulate and present solutions for complex problems. Ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimal direction. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must have valid driver’s license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
