Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg
- Ortho telemetry unit requiring TX or compact licensure and the ability to read telemetry strips.

• Active TX or Compact RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (active, not pending)
• Strong communication and time management skills required
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

• Acute care setting on a Tower 2 Med/Surg
  - Ortho telemetry unit with 12 beds
• Patient ratios of 5-6:1 with PCT support at 12:1
• Primarily orthopedic patient population
• Unit cares for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen patients
• RNs are not required to titrate drips but must be able to read telemetry strips (tele monitor techs assist with monitoring)
• Uses Allscripts EMR
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• No call or standby requirements
• Must be willing and able to float to all med/tele units
• Scheduling is determined by the unit manager; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators are available for support on the unit
• Unit-specific orientation includes 2 shadow/orientation shifts before working independently
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Candidates with prior direct employment (full time, part time, or PRN) with Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year are not eligible; prior PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
