SummaryProvide efficient operating vehicles, equipment and hydraulic systems through effective troubleshooting techniques and strict adherence to maintenance guidelines. Perform daily functions and instructions in the absence of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. Direct others in providing an even flow of maintenance and follow guidelines in providing the necessary maintenance actions required on vehicle malfunctions in the field.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms inspections, servicing and scheduled maintenance on hydraulic systems. Troubleshoots, disassembles, inspects, repairs or replaces and assembles components on these units. Also, adjustments and operational performance test are accomplished within the guidelines of pertinent directives and established policy. Prepares and initiates tasks on scheduled maintenance assignments. Performs tire repair and replacements following strict safety guidelines and required. Accomplishes tune‑ups, transmission servicing, brake replacement, repairs and adjustments on gasoline and diesel vehicles.
Provides documentation for records.
Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces vehicle components, electrical systems, wiring and accessories as dictated by vehicle malfunctions. Troubleshoots, removes, repairs, and installs two‑way radio systems, spotlights and equipment adapted to vehicle specifications of established policy.
Inspect vehicles for tire conditions, fluid leakage and starting problems. Make adjustments and repairs as required in preparing those units for daily operations.
Determine requirements in extended repair on chain saws and portable generators, perform complete disassembly, repair and assembly on those units. Inventories and purchases those parts required to maintain an adequate level of supplies on hand.
Operates company vehicles and equipment in the field, troubleshooting and repairing vehicle breakdowns, provides winching operations vehicles immobilized and towing operations. Observes all safety rules adopted by the Cooperative and traffic laws.
Transports vehicles requiring additional maintenance to other vehicle maintenance shops. Ensures proper documentation of instructions and vehicle information. Checks parts availability and estimated repairs completion time. Informs Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor of repair status.
Accomplish daily cleaning and maintenance tasks on the maintenance facility. Maintain shop equipment and recommend tooling changes and or additions.
Participates in office related tasks, scheduling vehicles for servicing and checking invoices.
Other duties may be assigned.

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A.
A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, and five (5) years of vehicle maintenance experience on light (1/2 ton) up to medium duty (46,000 GVW) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Knowledge of hydraulics theory and systems would be beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust posses a valid Texas CDL driver's license or be able to obtain one. ASE Certified Mechanics preferred.
