Overview
We seek an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing the company payroll (hourly and salary), ensuring accuracy, and maintaining up-to-date records. You will work closely with the HR Department, Superintendents, Managers/Directors, and the accounting department to gather employee information and process payroll promptly, considering various pay rates, union regulations, and job-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities- Collect and review timesheets and other relevant documents for payroll processing, considering job-specific rates and union requirements.
- Input payroll data into the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and files.
- Answer employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
- Assist with the preparation of payroll reports and analysis as required.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting departments to ensure smooth operation of the payroll functions.
- Assist with weekly/monthly payroll compliance reporting (i.e. certified payroll and other payroll compliance submittals).
- Participate in development and implementation of best practices and process improvements related to payroll and collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure operational efficiency.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree or certification in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in the construction industry
- Excellent communication and people skills, with a strong customer service orientation
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Strong working knowledge of payroll processes and basic understanding of tax laws, regulations, union agreements and certified payroll requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, with emphasis on Excel
- Experience with payroll software systems
