The Engineering Manager - Calibration is responsible for overseeing a team of engineering and technical personnel in the completion of engineering or testing projects. Their duties include hiring and training qualified engineering staff, setting project budgets and timelines, and helping their staff execute project deliverables. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with other team leaders and departments to ensure program profitability and success.
This position is located in Livonia, MI.
- Lead the effort to establish and implement Engineering Services strategic priorities in alignment with business strategy to drive results and grow the business.
- Manage staff and assign tasks to engineering and technical personnel in alignment with business and financial objectives.
- Ensure that processes and programs are standard and effective to meet business and customer goals.
- Forge and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Participate in the formulation of business goals, objectives, policies, financial projections, and customer quoting.
- Secure the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments.
- Collaborate with other team leaders and departments.
- Participate in company presentations and contract negotiations.
- Maintain high level expertise in the field or sector.
- Communicate technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
- Personnel and project management skills.
- Expert‑level knowledge of sector technology and processes.
- Leadership, team‑building, and mentoring skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.

- Proficiency using presentation software to explain complex information to non‑technical management personnel and stakeholders.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously.
- Proven customer‑relationship skills with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Working knowledge of program management tools (risk analyses, communication plans, timing plans, business cases, comprehensive financial analyses).
- 5 years of experience in a senior or lead engineering capacity.
- Lead a group of calibration engineers through all aspects of a program’s lifecycle, including concept design, system engineering, vehicle integration, prototyping, development testing and validation, and production implementation.
- Develop, track, and report on timing plans, cost estimates, and major program deliverables for internal and external review.
- Ensure calibration deliverables meet customer requirements and performance specifications.
- Provide technical oversight to the engineering team, including evaluations of engineering issues and customer risk assessment.
- Lead the calibration effort for powertrain function, including core engine control features, throttle control and reliability monitoring, OBDII, tailpipe and evaporative emissions, and auxiliary subsystems.
- Support hot climate, cold climate, and high‑altitude development and validation as required to meet customer objectives.
