In this position, the Underbody Variable Brakes Engineering People Leader is responsible to coordinate and implement all the required actions to improve overall customer satisfaction as it relates to the product while maintaining an affordable business structure and generating cost reduction and revenue initiatives for current and future product lines. Coordinate the Engineering activities for subsystem and components development.

Responsible for compliance to the vehicle / system / subsystem / component requirements, including Engineering Specifications, Design Rules and Government regulations, and for the integration of the required Engineering headcount to perform these functions.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Engineering efforts for vehicle / system / subsystem / component part development and release.
  • Provide Engineering Sign Off for vehicles.
  • Approve engineering changes (Concerns / Notices / Alerts etc.).
  • Establish overall tone and priorities to ensure the GPDS deliverables requirements are met.
  • Ensure rapid response to customers' field concerns on current product lines.
  • Manage resources across vehicle line consistent with business plan and foster growth of all engineering personnel via career development, skills training, cross-functional assessment, etc.
  • Applications Global Lead for Variable Brake Design and Release components; brake and accelerator pedals, brake actuation systems, brake hoses, brake tubes, vacuum sensors, and overall brake system components.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
  • 5+ years Design & Release experience.
  • 3+ years Team Lead experience.
  • Master’s degree (preferred).
  • High English proficiency (reading, writing and speaking).
  • Experience in functional engineering, preferably chassis or automotive related work experience (Ford, OEM, supplier).
  • Strong leadership skills – a self-starter and self-motivated with a strong drive for results.
  • Project management skills – capable of managing projects with a focus on objectives and administration to achieve these objectives.
  • Excellent math, science, technology and IT skills, able to work in unfamiliar and unstructured situations and succeed.
  • The ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions.
  • The ability to explain design ideas clearly and strong decision-making skills.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution and management reviews.
  • Excellent team working and people skills.
  • A comprehensive understanding of brake subsystems design specifications and automotive industry environment.
  • Computer-literate with proficiency in MS‑Office/Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • 3D CAD software tools exposure (Catia / Teamcenter).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering disciplines: DVP&R, DFMEA, 8D, NVH, Process Controls.
  • GD&T, Reliability and System Engineering Fundamentals.
  • DMAIC/DFSS/Robustness tools working experience.
  • Be self-driven and willing to spend time on weekends or evening global calls, as required.
  • Have an emphasis on “speed of delivery” combined with quality for all objectives and tasks.
  • Have a strong background in problem solving and industrializing Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA) quickly with minimal interaction with the leadership team, and help create Prevent Recurrence actions with the global brake core team.
  • Must have the ability to present to the Ford executive leadership team and give an “elevator speech” by articulating a lot of technical engineering information into a short clear and concise summary.
