In this position… Join the fast‑paced RWD Hybrid and 10R RWD Transmission Team! We are responsible for providing exciting customer‑experience vehicles like the Mustang, Bronco, Raptor, F‑series, and Superduty product lines. The 10R Transmission Team is looking for engineers to help design, validate and launch the future of Rear‑Wheel Drive, 4x4 and Rear‑Wheel Hybrid Propulsion Systems.
Product Development Engineer specializing in current model quality & warranty, structured root‑cause analysis, LTIS warranty response, ICA/PCA implementation, and future program testing & implementation. Need to be a motivated self‑starter with a love of structured root‑cause problem solving. This role requires daily collaboration between systems, components, quality, and manufacturing engineers.
Responsibilities- Serve as a Product Development engineer responsible for 10‑speed RWD and RWD hybrid propulsion systems and the specific transmission components and assemblies
- Take ownership of the system & components, work hand in hand with specific component engineers
- Work with Ford analytical teams, component engineers and suppliers to define component duty cycles
- Lead teams through validation of components and sub‑assemblies; create Design Verification Plans to track test completion and status
- Lead root‑cause investigations
- Setup and complete pre‑program Failure Mode Analysis documentation
- Lead waste reduction and cost reduction studies to meet corporate objectives
- Complete design assessments including design rules, requirements, assembly stacks, print updates
- Must be in Livonia, Michigan 4 days a week or more depending on specific testing/hardware needs
- Must be approved to travel globally
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 1+ years of experience in operating efficiency or benchmarking comparison studies
- 1+ years of experience with project management
- CAD & Model based systems engineering tools experience preferred but not required
- Can be an entry level developmental engineering position; specific experience not required
- Component design and release experience

This position is a range of salary grades 5–8.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
