The role of a Bakery Clerk involves providing outstanding customer service, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting the department in achieving sales and quality standards while upholding Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

• A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same.
• As a Bakery team member, you will establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return.
• Bakery Clerk assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitors all established quality assurance standards.
• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment and ensure correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery specials and ensure fresh products are provided as ordered.
• Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, ovens) according to company guidelines and maintain proper temperatures and logs.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Remain knowledgeable about products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and follow safety procedures; identify and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a positive attitude and create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of any repairs needed.
• Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Outstanding customer service skills
• Desire to understand food production and basic cooking techniques
• Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
• Good basic math skills
• Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed
