Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone, electric, cable television, gas, fiber optic, water, and sewer lines. The role ensures compliance with client and state requirements through observation, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Technicians may work independently or as part of a team under a supervisor, using various methods and equipment.

• Locates underground facilities by using a transmitter and hooking up to a buried facility, pedestal, etc.
• Works in and walks over all types of terrain and construction zones in residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
• Interprets job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Performs locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
• Performs work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while communicating effectively with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
• Communicates with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage‑free environment.
• Utilizes technology and tools required for the position.
• Works collaboratively with team members and under supervision.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
• Ability to problem‑solve and read and interpret multiple types of prints.
• Experience with vacuum truck operations (a plus).
• Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Background screening with no violations within the last 5 years.
• Pass a DOT drug test.
• Completion of a background check required by company policy.

• 10‑hour shift, Monday to Friday
• On call and weekends as needed

• High school or equivalent (required)

• Computer skills: 1 year (preferred)
• Utility locating: 1 year (preferred)

• Driver's License (required)

On the road — travel to various job sites as needed.
