Temporary Science Teacher - Ysgol Bro Dinefwr

Salary: £32,731 - £51,942 (MPR2 - UPR3)

Contract type: Temporary/Secondment – Full time (fixed term)

Contract end date: 31 August 2026

Start date: 1 April 2026

Location: Llandeilo

Hourly Rate: £24.72 - £30.04 Contract

32.5 (Full time)

Welsh language level (verbal): Level 2 – basic conversational Welsh, with support to progress if needed.

About the School

Ysgol Bro Dinefwr is a Bilingual category (T3) secondary school situated on the banks of the River Tywi close to Llandeilo. The school serves 1,089 pupils from Year 7‑13 and runs a specialist Autism unit for 42 pupils. The campus boasts modern facilities and an outdoor education centre that includes garden, polytunnels, a pond and animal enclosures. Our focus is on creating an inclusive, achievement‑driven culture that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

As a Science teacher you will develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the national curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles. You will:

  • Use innovative and interdisciplinary teaching methods, including an outdoor curriculum for Years 7‑9;
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to help students master scientific concepts and prepare for GCSE to A‑Level examinations;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and develop new schemes of work;
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the department’s objectives and learning outcomes.
Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science;
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS);
  • Experience teaching Science at the secondary (GCSE) level;
  • Enhanced DBS check with barred‑list clearance.
