Overview

Breast Test Wales plans, provides, manages and evaluates the NHS Breast Screening Programme in Wales. The North Wales Region based at Llandudno and Wrexham employs approximately 29 Mammographic staff, comprising Clinical Specialist Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners, Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and Clinical Imaging Support Workers.

The post will involve travelling to and working on mobile units with some requirement for overnight stays. Newly and recently qualified Radiographers will be required to work at least 12 months before commencing the post graduate MSc. module in Mammography and, after successfully completing, will be upgraded to Band
6. There will also be a requirement to participate in rostered weekend working as necessary to meet the needs of the service.

As an organisation, BTW positively supports advanced practice, with established routes for Radiographers to become Advanced Practitioners/Consultant Radiographers according to service need.

The post is exempt under Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1. Due to the nature of the role this sentence has been removed to reflect inclusive recruitment practices.

The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week. Following NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy, pay progression is determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews. An Incremental Credit may be considered based on evidenced service and/or relevant experience.

Qualifications and experience
  • Postgraduate MSc module in Mammography (holding or studying towards).
  • Post holders will typically be upgraded to Band 6 after completion of the MSc module, following service requirements.
  • Newly and recently qualified Radiographers will be required to work at least 12 months before commencing the post graduate module.
  • Travel to and work on mobile units with some overnight stays.
  • Participation in rostered weekend working as necessary to meet service needs.
  • The North Wales region includes 2 static screening centres and 3 Mobile Screening Units.
