Retail Relief Security Officer

Job Overview

• Protect customers’ property, people, and assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the site’s published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and any subsequent changes.
• Deliver results that meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators / Service Level Agreements for the customer, ensuring full responsibility and accountability to aid contract retention.
• Undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development.

• Be aware of and comply with all relevant policies, UK law, and guidance from the Security Account Manager.
• Fully complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the Assignment Instructions.
• Review the Assignment Instructions proactively and suggest amendments to improve service.
• Maintain compliance with industry and statutory legislation, wearing required licences (Security Guarding or Door Supervision, CCTV PSS SIA Licence) at all times.
• Comply with all legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
• Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.
• Work methodically and orderly.

• Complete all required competency training satisfactorily.
• Undertake additional training as directed by the Security Account Manager.
• Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge through continuous professional development.
• Renew licences at least 16 weeks before expiry.

• Identify and immediately report any health & safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
• Remain alert to threats or changes and take appropriate action to reduce disruption, loss, or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative, involving others if a situation appears threatening.
• Maintain professional conduct in difficult situations and with challenging customers.
• Complete a detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident for the Incident Report process.
• Tend to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
• Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions.
• Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.

• Previous security experience.
• Valid SIA licence.
• SC clearance desirable.
