The Role
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to join our newly created Energy team. This role is pivotal in driving growth across our energy and decarbonisation solutions portfolio, which includes solar PV, building management systems (BMS), heat pumps, building fabric upgrades, lighting improvements, and other multi-intervention energy strategies.
You will focus on developing opportunities within our existing customer base while also building new direct-to-market relationships and leveraging frameworks to expand our reach. This is a national role requiring strategic thinking, strong relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to deliver results.
Key responsibilities
- Drive Growth:
Build and manage a robust pipeline of energy and decarbonisation opportunities, including solar PV, BMS, Heat Pumps, Building Fabric upgrades, Energy Centres, District Heating networks and multi-intervention solutions. - Lead Strategic Sales:
Identify and secure new business opportunities through frameworks, direct-to-market channels, and existing customer relationships. - Client Engagement:
Initiate conversations with potential clients, uncover their sustainability needs, and position tailored solutions that deliver measurable impact. - Relationship Building:
Develop strong, long-term relationships with prospective clients and internal stakeholders. - Tender Leadership:
Own the tender process from start to finish, ensuring compliance and competitive positioning. - Close Deals:
Negotiate and secure contracts in line with company governance and profitability targets. - Collaborate for Success:
Work closely with operational teams to ensure seamless delivery and customer retention aligned with divisional strategy. - Sales Performance:
Meet and exceed appointment, proposal, and revenue targets. - CRM Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Strong ability to influence, build trust, and win new business.
- Proven track record in sales and business development, ideally in energy, sustainability, or related sectors.
- Experience in developing and managing pipelines and achieving ambitious targets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Collaborative team player with a tenacious and ambitious mindset.
- Previous experience in energy solutions, decarbonisation, or sustainability sales
- Willingness to travel nationally and stay overnight as required.
