The Vacancy

Binnies is recruiting landscape architects with a particular interest in blue/green infrastructure and sustainable nature-based solutions. We pride ourselves on being a sustainability-led organisation and you would play a key role in ensuring our standards. With our roots in the water sector and growing focus on nature-based solutions, we are seeking landscape design and assessment specialists with a strong interest in this area.

Typical work you might get involved with includes the planning and design of nature-based solutions such as wetlands, river restoration projects, and Biodiversity Net Gain schemes across the UK water industry, along with flood risk management schemes for clients such as the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales. We are currently also proud to be working in joint venture with Arup as the delivery partner for SESRO, supporting Thames Water in securing a Development Consent Order (DCO) for this nationally significant infrastructure project.

Together, we are responsible for all design, consenting, and environmental services for the integrated scheme. As one of the largest reservoirs in the country, this project not only aims to secure vital water resources but also aspires to deliver a future legacy of significant green infrastructure, leisure and recreational opportunities. Binnies is a Landscape Institute award-winning and registered practice. As one of the RSK Group of companies, we also collaborate as part of one of the largest groups of landscape architects in the UK along with Stephenson Halliday, ADAS and SES, offering diverse opportunities and excellent long-term career development. We are also registered with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), hold the IEMA (now ISEP) EIA Quality Mark, and we are a proud sponsor of the Association of Environmental Clerks of Works - reflecting our commitment to excellence across the environmental sector.
