Job summary
The Acute Medicine Department at Prince Philip Hospital is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated consultant in Acute and General Medicine. The post is substantive and full time. This is a new post, joining colleagues in a dynamic and forward-looking department to develop a comprehensive 7-day Acute Medicine service across Prince Philip Hospital and the wider Health Board. The successful candidate will lead on the medical assessment and treatment of "front door" patients, including the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) medical patients and the provision of "hot" specialty clinics.
They will also be involved in the development and strategy of the new Urgent Care Centre. We seek a colleague interested in Acute Medicine as their primary commitment but will support candidates wanting to continue clinical interests or work in liaison roles with other medical specialties.
The post is primarily based at Prince Philip Hospital, in Llanelli with the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from across Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will provide with other consultant colleagues a service in Acute Medicine to oversee medical patient care within AMAU and Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) on a rotational basis as well as supporting the development of sub-speciality interest if applicable. There is also an expectation to participate in the medical on-call rota at Prince Philip Hospital on a 1:11 basis.
