We’re looking for a highly capable Electrical Departmental Engineer to manage and coordinate the effective operation of the utilities and infrastructure at Trostre Works. This is a critical leadership role where you’ll drive engineering excellence, support manufacturing performance, and ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

You’ll take ownership of engineering delivery within your area, working collaboratively across functions to ensure alignment with business plans while driving continuous improvement and operational reliability.

What you will do
  • Implement engineering activities in line with Health, Safety and Environmental management systems
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards and legislative requirements
  • Lead engineering and manufacturing performance within your area, supporting improvement and development plans
  • Identify and deliver training and development plans for engineering teams
  • Ensure all plant, process and organisational changes are managed through robust Management of Change processes
  • Develop and support Capital and SRE proposals aligned to improvement plans
  • Take responsibility for COMAH-related activities within your engineering discipline
  • Represent Trostre on UK Engineering committees (Reliability & Sustainability)
  • Coordinate, manage and influence the area electrical engineering issues and plans with the Engineering Managers and Works Engineer to implement and own engineering development plans and processes required for site discipline
  • Lead and direct the provision of site-wide electrical resource to deliver effective maintenance and repair activities in line with the requirement of the manufacturing units
  • Ensure engineering teams are trained and able to support 24/7 manufacturing operations
  • Develop & deliver capital and improvement plans
  • Monitor and control expenditure on spares, materials and labour within budget
  • Develop and maintain engineering systems to meet statutory, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Maintain and improve engineering standards in line with best practice and compliance requirements
  • Lead and champion Management of Change processes across the area
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, plant reliability, and performance
What you will need
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (or HNC/Diploma with significant relevant experience)
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards (IET, IMechE or similar)
  • Strong experience in engineering leadership within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, failure analysis, and lifecycle costing
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience of engineering systems, standards, and best practices
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage engineering performance
  • Experience in budget management and resource planning
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to make short-, medium- and long-term operational decisions
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
