Finance Manager

We’re looking for a Finance Manager to play a critical role in delivering accurate, timely, and well‑controlled accounting across operating expenses and balance sheet accounts. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the detail, developing people, and continuously improving how finance operates.

Reporting into the Head of Overheads & Balance Sheet Accounting, you’ll lead a small team (2–3 accountants) and take accountability for overhead accounting, balance sheet integrity, and month‑end delivery. You’ll be a key partner to FP&A, Tax, AP/AR, and Audit — ensuring the numbers are right, the story is clear, and controls are strong.

• Oversee the recording, allocation, and accrual of operating expenses across cost centres
• Review cost allocations and support monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast
• Support recharge and intercompany processes, ensuring alignment with agreed methodologies

• Lead balance sheet reconciliations across key accounts (accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, provisions)
• Review journals, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items, driving aged balances to zero

• Own assigned close activities, delivering to tight deadlines
• Partner with AP, AR, Revenue, FP&A, and Tax to ensure a smooth close
• Prepare audit‑ready documentation and contribute to balance sheet reviews

• Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with IFRS and internal policies
• Support internal and external audit requests with confidence and clarity
• Proactively identify risks, issues, or control gaps and elevate where needed
• Drive improvements in reconciliations, allocations, and automation
• Support ERP enhancements or upgrade testing

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
• 5+ years’ experience across financial accounting and month‑end close
• Experience leading or mentoring finance professionals
• Strong analytical skills with the confidence to challenge and resolve issues
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Business Central, Oracle, or similar)
• Experience in shared services or global finance environments
• Exposure to internal control frameworks
• Interest in automation and process optimisation
