We’re looking for a Finance Manager to play a critical role in delivering accurate, timely, and well‑controlled accounting across operating expenses and balance sheet accounts. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the detail, developing people, and continuously improving how finance operates.
The RoleReporting into the Head of Overheads & Balance Sheet Accounting, you’ll lead a small team (2–3 accountants) and take accountability for overhead accounting, balance sheet integrity, and month‑end delivery. You’ll be a key partner to FP&A, Tax, AP/AR, and Audit — ensuring the numbers are right, the story is clear, and controls are strong.
What You’ll Be Doing- Oversee the recording, allocation, and accrual of operating expenses across cost centres
- Review cost allocations and support monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast
- Support recharge and intercompany processes, ensuring alignment with agreed methodologies
- Lead balance sheet reconciliations across key accounts (accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, provisions)
- Review journals, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items, driving aged balances to zero
- Own assigned close activities, delivering to tight deadlines
- Partner with AP, AR, Revenue, FP&A, and Tax to ensure a smooth close
- Prepare audit‑ready documentation and contribute to balance sheet reviews
- Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with IFRS and internal policies
- Support internal and external audit requests with confidence and clarity
- Proactively identify risks, issues, or control gaps and elevate where needed
- Drive improvements in reconciliations, allocations, and automation
- Support ERP enhancements or upgrade testing
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
- 5+ years’ experience across financial accounting and month‑end close
- Experience leading or mentoring finance professionals
- Strong analytical skills with the confidence to challenge and resolve issues
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Business Central, Oracle, or similar)
- Experience in shared services or global finance environments
- Exposure to internal control frameworks
- Interest in automation and process optimisation
