A Specialist School near Tilehurst is seeking a dedicated Graduate to join their team as a Mental Health/Behaviour Support Assistant. The school caters for children aged 4-16 who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, including attachment disorders, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and low self-esteem.
Many of the pupils have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and therefore struggle in a mainstream environment. In this role, you will be supporting a small class of 5 to 10 pupils, collaborating with the school's teaching team, therapists, and support staff to deliver specialist education and interventions that aim to boost the students’ learning, personal development, and emotional growth.
As a Mental Health/Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive specialist environment. By engaging with restorative and trauma-informed practices, you will build a strong foundation for a future career in Psychology, Therapy, Counselling, or Social Work.
