Position: Support Worker (Health Needs)

Summary

We’re looking for caring and committed Support Workers to join our friendly, long‑standing team. You’ll be supporting six incredible individuals with learning and physical disabilities and complex needs, including PEG feeding, across five purpose‑built bungalows in a quiet cul‑de‑sac near Llanelli town centre. Full training and ongoing team support will be provided. This is a role where no two days are the same.

Some moments are fast‑paced and hands‑on, while others are about slowing things down – encouraging independence in the kitchen, supporting daily choices, or simply being there to help someone feel safe and comfortable in their own home. This is a 16‑hour contract on a two‑week rolling rota, with every other weekend off and the option of night shifts if required.

As a 24/7 service, flexibility is important. You’ll be part of a supportive team that shares responsibility across days, evenings, weekends, and nights. Due to the specific needs of the individuals we support and current legal guidance, this role is only open to applicants who are biologically male. A full UK manual driving licence is essential, as driving mobility vehicles is a key part of supporting the people in our care.

You’ll be part of a home where people feel truly comfortable and where you, as a team member, are valued, supported, and part of something important. If you’re someone who genuinely cares and wants to help people live life their way, this could be the role for you. Whether you’re offering practical support or being a calm, reassuring presence, your impact will be meaningful every single day.

Overview

Codi is a not‑for‑profit with a big heart and an even bigger mission. As Wales’ largest provider of housing, care, and support, we’re here to help people live well, feel supported, and rise to their full potential. Every day, our teams support nearly 17,000 individuals across Wales with services that make a real and uplifting difference to their everyday lives. Our name says it all: ‘Codi’ means rise in Welsh.

It reflects who we are, where we come from, and our ambition to lift expectations, lift communities, and lift each other.

About

The Role

Supporting individuals in 5 purpose‑built bungalows, mornings in this role can be busy but rewarding. You’ll support with personal care, medication, record keeping, and helping individuals prepare for the day ahead. As the day progresses, the pace softens, creating time to support individuals to relax, watch TV, or simply enjoy their own space in a way that feels comfortable to them.

You’ll play an important role in balancing daily routines with meaningful support, whether that’s cooking meals (or encouraging those developing their skills in the kitchen), ensuring nutritional needs are met, or helping plan shopping lists to promote independence and choice. Your patience and ability to communicate in different ways and building relationships will be essential and this is where your empathy and person‑centred approach will make a real difference, ensuring the individuals feel understood, respected, and supported at all times.

Life here is about more than routines – it’s about living well. You’ll support individuals to access the activities they love, from day centres to community outings, including trips using annual passes to places like the Botanical Gardens and Folly Farm. With interests ranging from rugby to politics and getting out into the community, a full UK driving licence is essential to support an active and fulfilling lifestyle.
