Recycling Operative

We are seeking a dedicated Recycling Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sorting, processing, and managing recyclable materials in a safe and efficient manner. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability while working in a dynamic and physically active environment. The position involves manual labour and requires adherence to safety protocols to ensure smooth operations within the recycling facility.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and process recyclable materials according to company procedures
• Operate machinery and equipment used in the recycling process, maintaining mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting when necessary
• Ensure the proper segregation of different types of recyclables, including plastics, metals, and paper
• Perform heavy lifting tasks safely to move materials within the facility
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area to promote safety and efficiency
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any malfunctions or safety hazards promptly
• Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Assist with loading and unloading materials from lorries or containers as required

Experience

• Prior experience in a recycling or waste management environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
• Mechanical knowledge is desirable to facilitate equipment operation and troubleshooting
• Physical strength and stamina are necessary for heavy lifting tasks throughout shifts
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
• Willingness to undertake manual labour and adhere strictly to safety procedures
