Responsibilities
- Provide a well‑stocked, well‑maintained department while delivering superior customer service.
- Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis while maintaining all department and food safety/sanitation standards.
- Take orders, answer questions, and assist customers with selections.
- Support kitchen operations by slicing, packaging, labeling, rotating, and culling products; assist in technical areas such as setup and clean‑up.
- Use suggestive selling techniques and product knowledge to build department sales.
- Clean and sanitize display cases, operate and maintain equipment, and comply with H‑E‑B food safety and sanitation standards.
- Record production and shrink to aid in production planning; assist in technical areas such as baking, frying, and decorating.
- Perform inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required.
- Perform all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers and other equipment.
- Serve and package products at customer’s request and educate customers on preparation/reheating instructions.

We Are Looking For
- High school diploma.
- Communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (PC, symbol, scales, label machine).
- Strong customer service skills.
- Reading and writing skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Completion of company orientation and food safety/sanitation training.
- Minimum age 18.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs (produce) or 55 lbs (deli) and manage in excess of 70 lbs or 65 lbs.
- Constantly reach at waist, grasp; frequently stand, walk, and occasionally bend or stoop.
- Occasionally reach overhead, at shoulder, at knee, at floor; be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions and loud noise.
- Stand and walk 5.5+ hours per 8‑hour day (constantly); 2.5‑5.5 hours (frequently).
Additional Department‑Specific Responsibilities: record production and shrink; assist in baking, frying, decorating; cull bakery products for poor quality or expiration dates.
