Substation Foreman at Irby Construction Company shall possess a minimum of one (4) years of experience in a Journeymen electrical role. Substation, Commercial, or Industrial construction Journeymen electrical experience is a plus. Journeymen electricians must have a valid journeymen electrician card or be able to pass the Journeymen electricians test per government standards. The individual will possess all of the skills required for assignment from the foreman for complete electrical installations.

Such an employee shall also have in depth knowledge of all applicable OSHA codes and standards, as well as the National Electrical Code.
THIS JOB IS FOR TEXAS FOR SEVERAL LOCATIONS.

• Typical Substation construction from Greenfield to Remodels, including trenching for ground grid and conduits, back filling and compacting, foundation drilling, digging and installation, lifting and placing structural steel, installing insulators and busswork, installing substation equipment such as breakers, metering, transformers, arrestors, etc., moving and pulling control cable to medium voltage cable, and finishing yard work.

• Read and understand control cable schedules from the client.
• Ensure conduit sizes are correct for control cable pulls and installation techniques.
• Read P&C prints for proper termination of multiple conductor control cables (up to 12/C #12 down to 1/C 4/0).
• Learn medium voltage terminations up to 34.5 kV terminations (Irby offers training and certification).
• Understand DC and AC systems.
• Provide insight on project construction regarding control cable pulling, installation, and termination.
• Work in energized panels when required.
• Knowledge of electrical, below grade, or concrete foundation trade is a plus.
• High voltage substation construction knowledge or experience is a plus.
• Ensure quality of work is performed according to specifications.

• Adheres to all Company Safety and Health Policies
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Willing to stay out of town; typical work weeks are 4-10 hour shifts or 5-10 hour shifts; travel as required
• Willing to work overtime and extended periods
• May work in storm restoration operations
• May attend training classes to gain knowledge of new processes, safety regulations, and refresher training
• Walk across uneven terrain and climb on/off large trucks and equipment
• Work outside 100% of the time in inclement weather
• Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds daily
• Willing to work at heights (normal 20’–60’, up to 120’)
• Work around energized systems
• Assist with other activities when not actively performing Journeyman electrician duties
