Part-Time Histology Technologist

• Embed tissue with correct orientation according to established protocols.
• Cut tissue blocks with high‑quality microtomy.
• Gross or dissect patient samples with care, following protocol.
• Perform manual special stains with proper quality control.
• Perform IHC staining with quality control.
• Basic troubleshooting of histology procedures.
• Maintain maintenance logs daily to ensure optimal machine function.
• Explain and investigate patient safety incidents, medical errors, and potential risks.
• Assist with implementation of corrective actions where appropriate.
• Investigate issues such as turnaround times, supply problems, and patient concerns, and forward them to appropriate leadership.

• Education:
  
  Associate or Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, allied health science, or related discipline.
• Preferred:
  Histology Technologist (HTL) or Histology Laboratory Technician (HT) certification, issued by ASCP.
• For foreign educated candidates: detailed credential evaluation from IERF.
• For US educated candidates: detailed original transcript.

• Previous experience in a hospital or reference laboratory is a plus.
• Certification preferred within 1 year of hire date.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28,000–$42,000, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
