Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport structural steel, plate, and fabricated components throughout the facility.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks safely and efficiently.
- Stage materials for production departments including fabrication, welding, fitting, machining, and shipping.
- Verify material quantities, dimensions, and identification against work orders, packing lists, and shipping documents.
- Organize and maintain yard and warehouse storage locations.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with inventory control activities, cycle counts, and material tracking.
- Ensure materials are properly secured, stored, and protected from damage.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as required.
- Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and forklift operating requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist production personnel with material movement and other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of forklift operating experience in a manufacturing, steel service center, construction, warehouse, or industrial environment.
- Experience handling oversized, heavy, or irregular steel products preferred.
- Ability to read work orders, material tags, shipping documents, and production paperwork.
- Basic understanding of inventory and material tracking processes.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts for extended periods.
- OSHA Forklift Operator Certification (preferred but not required).
- NCCCO Industrial Lift Truck Certification (preferred but not required)
- Competitive hourly wage between $18 and $22 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
