This position is responsible for the operation of a wastewater treatment plant and related facilities. This is the training assessment position for eventual licensing under GA Secretary of State. An incumbent in this position may be designated “Operator III”, Operator II,” or “Operator I.”

• Oversees the operations of the wastewater treatment plan and sewer collection system.
• Monitors treatment processes and conditions within treatment basins to ensure compliance with state and other permit guidelines.
• Maintains and performs quality control measures on lab equipment, including the calibration of equipment; maintains quality control and maintenance records.
• Collects and analyzes water, composite, and other samples; makes operational adjustments to ensure operational compliance; maintains related records.
• Records tests results, flow data, and other information and prepares related reports.
• Inspects left stations to ensure proper operations and to identify maintenance and repair needs.
• Operates belt press equipment and record related data.
• Maintains plant facilities and equipment; performs preventative maintenance on plant equipment; repairs and replaces equipment; keeps maintenance records.
• Coordinates with other city personnel and with contractors to maintain and repair equipment and system components.
• Oversees the grease management program.
• Oversees the water compliance program.
• Assists in the development of plan designs and review for plant and system upgrades.
• Monitors the operations of water treatment plants and water distribution system.
