Urgent Care Provider Residency Program - Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants
April 2026 Class - Locust Grove, GA
Program Overview- Ideal for new-grad Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners or those with no prior Urgent Care or Primary Care training
- Three-month program with paid salary
- Extensive one‑on‑one training with NP, PA or physician in our Urgent Care clinics, part of the Emory Healthcare Network
- Thorough curriculum covers diagnosis & treatment of chronic and acute conditions with hands‑on training for procedures
- Guaranteed employment after successful graduation from the program
- Program offers unique opportunity for extensive training & exposure to Urgent Care while being paid
- First Phase:
Initial 90 hours of training with Medical Leadership (including Regional Trainers) - Second Phase:
Provider works as a second provider in an approved regional center. During this phase, the provider will meet biweekly with their Senior DCS or VPCS for skills check‑ins and ongoing mentoring and training.
- Great opportunity for new providers or providers interested in Urgent Care and Primary Care to receive three months of extensive training in the following areas:
- EKG
- Heart Murmurs
- X‑Rays (chest, abdomen, wrist/hand, ankle/foot, spine)
- Occupational Medicine
- Preparation & administration of injections (Toradol, Rocephin, Decadron, Depo‑Medrol, Epi, vaccines)
- Obtaining & performing tests (COVID, strep, flu, A1C, Hgb, glucose)
- Direct training and observation of proficiency in the following procedures:
- Suturing (simple interrupted, continuous, horizontal & vertical mattress, subcuticular), including facial lacerations
- Incision & Drainage (abscess & paronychia/felon)
- Digital block
- Nail procedures (removal, wedge excision)
- Pelvic exam
- Extensive eye exams (fundoscopic exams, Wood’s lamp exam, fluorescein stain)
- Learning and demonstrating proficiency in the workup of the following conditions:
- URI, Sinusitis, Otitis Media, Strep, Pharyngitis
- Bronchitis, Pneumonia
- Abdominal Pain
- Sprains, Strains, Fractures
- MVAs
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Chest Pain
- Anaphylaxis
- Bites/Rashes
- Cellulitis
- Workman’s Comp Injuries
- Fever of Unknown Origin
- Stroke
- Dehydration
- UTI/Pyelonephritis
- STI
- Vaginal Discharge/PID
- Burns
- First training shift: shadowing Medical Leadership team members
- Initial 90 hours of training: become comfortable with the EMR and proficient with our New Provider Training Guide.
- Conclusion of 90 hours: providers should be seeing most patients in a shift independently, likely still requiring consultation.
- Second month: provider will likely still seek consultation each shift, but should be able to see patients independently. Door‑to‑door times may be longer than 60‑65 minutes.
- Third month: provider should be practicing independently, require minimal consultation and become efficient with their time.
- Have met the minimum hours requirement of 40 hours/week for 3 months or a total of 480 hours
- Take the DOT course and successfully become DOT certified
- Take the EMB Medicine Course in Coding and pass the exam
- Demonstrate proficiency on the residency program checklist
- Attend a New Provider Training Course (if available in their region during their program)
- Take & pass the Residency Certification Exam (administered by CMO)
- Competitive pay: residency salary for three months, then full salary upon graduation.
- Program Retention Bonus: up to $10,000.00 ($5,000.00 after 12 months and $5,000.00 after 24 months)
- Flexible work schedules, no nights, no on‑call, and limited weekends
- Work three days one week and four days the next, resulting in 3‑4 days off each week.
- Providers and family members enjoy a flat‑rate fee for medical services at CRH‑affiliated clinics.
- Clinics are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, and Easter with early closing on Christmas Eve and 4th of July.
