Edith Bowen Laboratory School (EBLS), a K–6 public charter school affiliated with Utah State University, is seeking a compassionate and skilled School-Based Mental Health Qualified Professional to provide direct support to students, families, and staff for the 2025–2026 school year. The professional will work collaboratively with educators, administrators, interns, and families, to address students’ emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs, and to promote a safe and healthy learning environment.
This is a grant-funded position that only offers employment for the school year. The position is hourly, part-time, requiring 20 hours per week.
- Provide short-term individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify students in need of mental health support.
- Conduct assessments, screeners, and referrals in alignment with best practices and school policies.
- Assist in developing and implementing individualized support plans and monitor student progress.
- Participate in the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and intervention planning teams.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning as needed.
- Offer staff professional development on topics such as trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning, and classroom behavior support strategies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and state guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active state licensure as a school counselor or other counselor, school psychologist or other psychologist, school social worker or other social worker, or school nurse.
- Minimum of one year experience working with school-aged children or in a school-based setting.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.
- Experience working within a PBIS or MTSS framework.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices for child and adolescent mental health.
- Experience with restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches.
