Overview

Supervising elementary students indoors and outdoors before school or during lunch recess daily at Edith Bowen Laboratory School. Must have experience with supervision and taking authority working with elementary age students ages between 5-12. Must be willing to work outside in rain or winter snow and cold conditions.

The hours are between 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is no flexibility on this schedule.

The mission of Edith Bowen Laboratory School at Utah State University is to ensure high levels of learning for all elementary students, by providing a positive and engaging learning environment using effective evidence-based practice; to mentor pre-service teachers through instruction and classroom-based experiences; and to review, conduct, implement, and disseminate educational research.

Responsibilities
  • Enjoy working with elementary age students
  • Be able to supervise and help students obey playground rules
  • Have willingness to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Worked in outdoor camps or swimming programs—preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certified—desired

This position will require the employee to work outside in all weather conditions. This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. This position requires nearly continuous standing, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead. Employees may be exposed to unusual elements including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
