This position will work in the environmental research product development group on new sensor design and product maintenance of infrared gas analyzer and ultrasonic products.

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and testing of electronic instrumentation and measurement systems. Design work will likely include 3D machining, sheet metal, plastic molding, optics, fluids, and gas flow. Responsibilities include the selection and definition for materials, processes, mounting, packaging, analysis (thermal, vibration, etc.), and other mechanical issues arising in the design of electronic instrumentation and measurement systems.

• Design Engineering

• Design new products using sheet metal, metal machining, plastics, optics, fluids, gases, etc.
• Maintain existing products with design updates and improvements.
• Analyze designs for thermal, flow, vibration, structure, etc.
• Design manufacturing processes and integrate with existing manufacturing processes.
• Verification and validation testing of components and systems.
• Develop documentation for parts and processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent). Preference for a master’s degree.
• 3 years of experience in product development.
• Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills and creativity.
• Excellent time management.

• Permanent remote work is not an option for this position.
• Must be able to travel occasionally (domestic or international).
