The Public & School Partnership is an Ameri Corps-funded nonprofit organization based in Logan, Utah at the Utah State University Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice. PSP accomplishes its mission by building partnerships between schools, nonprofit organizations, local institutions, and community members. PSP’s full-time Ameri Corps VISTA members strengthen the capacity of schools and nonprofit organizations across northern Utah by developing sustainable systems, tools, outreach materials, volunteer recruitment resources, grant writing materials, fundraising templates, communication tools, and process guides that staff can use to implement and sustain anti-poverty programs.
MemberDuties
Develop and strengthen sustainable systems, tools and organizational processes that increase the capacity to support students at risk of dropping out. The VISTA member will assess existing resources and help create frameworks that improve coordination of services addressing barriers to academic success, including food insecurity and access to essential resources such as hygiene supplies and clothing. The member will also develop processes, resource guides, and partnership strategies that enhance social and emotional support systems within the organization.
These capacity-building efforts will improve the organization’s ability to deliver comprehensive student support, increase student engagement and graduation outcomes, and contribute to long-term poverty alleviation by reducing barriers to educational success.
