Store/Night Clerk – Smith's Food & Drug Centers
Location:
Salt Lake City, Utah.
Employment Type:
Part-time.
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals for the department while monitoring quality assurance standards. Embrace a Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent service, demonstrating core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment.
- Answer customer questions about products and provide recommendations.
- Check product quality, review sell‑by dates, and take appropriate action on out‑of‑date items.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise, ensuring fresh products for customers.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair.
- Report all safety risks, incidents, and illegal activity (e.g., robbery, theft, fraud).
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Effective communication skills.
- Any retail experience.
- Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, or writing).
- Knowledge of products sold within the department and ability to respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Ability to recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
- Strong attention to product freshness and inventory accuracy.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with food safety regulations.
- Experience in preventive maintenance or in reporting equipment issues.
