Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals for the department while monitoring quality assurance standards. • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment.
• Answer customer questions about products and provide recommendations.
• Check product quality, review sell‑by dates, and take appropriate action on out‑of‑date items.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise, ensuring fresh products for customers.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair.
• Report all safety risks, incidents, and illegal activity (e.g., robbery, theft, fraud).
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.

• Any retail experience.
• Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, or writing).
• Knowledge of products sold within the department and ability to respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Ability to recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
• Strong attention to product freshness and inventory accuracy.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with food safety regulations.
• Experience in preventive maintenance or in reporting equipment issues.
