This is a full‑time, 12‑month, Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach position. The position supports and assists the Director of Strength & Conditioning for Olympic Sports in all aspects of the department. Duties focus on creating a safe, positive, and welcoming training environment for the development of student‑athletes in all areas of human performance.
Responsibilities- Teach, coach, and instruct proper training techniques; assist in spotting when necessary.
- Develop, implement, supervise, measure, and monitor all facets of human performance programs for assigned sport teams, including:
- Sport‑specific, team‑based, and individualized periodized annual performance plans; warm‑ups and cool‑downs; resistance training programs; conditioning programs; and recovery initiatives.
- Conduct scientifically validated assessments aimed at monitoring athletes’ development and injury risk.
- Collaborate with athletic training and physical therapy to ensure all preventative, rehabilitation, and return‑to‑play concerns are addressed.
- Liaise with sport‑coaches, administration, team support personnel, and department members, as applicable.
- Occasional team travel.
- Participate in international, national, regional, and department seminars.
- Anticipate potential injury risks and implement emergency medical procedures when necessary.
- Supervise and assist in general maintenance and cleaning of the facility, including oversight of all training equipment needs, preventative maintenance, repairs, and ordering of all facility cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ensure the facility is in proper order when opening, throughout the day, and closing.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on current strength and conditioning research.
- Implement only industry‑accepted, scientifically supported methodologies when training athletes.
- Ensure the department complies with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise science, or another sports/exercise‑related field.
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
- Demonstrated experience working in a team‑sports environment.
- CPR/AED certified.
- Commitment to promoting an atmosphere of compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- NSCA, RSCC certified.
- USA Weightlifting certified.
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- 2 years experience in an interdisciplinary performance team at a Division I level or higher.
