Teaching Assistant

Pay Rate: $18.50

The Teaching Assistant will support the classroom in a juvenile correctional facility, supervising students in the absence of the classroom teacher. This role involves managing student behavior, monitoring assignments, and helping with classroom activities.

• Supervise students in the classroom when the teacher is absent.
• Monitor student attendance, behavior, and assignment completion.
• Assist students with completing assignments left by the teacher.
• Maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
• Participate in faculty and professional meetings.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve student outcomes.
• Report on student progress and attend required training.
• Handle incidents appropriately to prevent harm or property damage.

• Required:
  
  High school diploma.
• Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
• Ability to manage lesson plans and student behavior in the teacher’s absence.
• Ability to create a supportive learning environment for student growth.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Nice to Have:
  Substitute teaching permit, experience working with students.
